Preparing an International Supply Inquiry

Export and import requirements depend on the actual commodity and destination. A commercial inquiry should establish those variables before anyone implies that a product is approved for a market.

Identify the destination and product

State the country, product category, requested packaging, quantity and approximate timeline. Describe any labeling language, destination-specific rules or documents your importer requires.

Clarify responsibilities

Ask which party would be responsible for shipping, customs processes and required records under a potential agreement. Do not assume that a website section labeled “Export Inquiries” proves licensing, market authorization, or an established export channel.

Work from documents

A final agreement must be based on the exact product and current regulatory requirements.
